Albany is located in the southwest corner of Athens County and covers just over 1.25 square miles. The Village of Albany functions under a statutory government structure, comprised of an elected Mayor with a Village Administrator, Fiscal Officer, and Police Chief rounding out the Executive Branch and six at-large council members, each elected by the community, making up the Legislative Branch. The Village also engages professional services for the positions of Village Solicitor and Village Engineer through contractual agreements.
Village residents and businesses benefit from a full service Public Works Department which maintains our streets, water distribution and waste water treatment systems. Police, Fire. and EMS services are also available on-site.
