Summer Skills Cafe
There is a new mobile youth program being held on July 2nd at the Albany Community Park called the Summer Skills Café. It’s a drop‑in, youth-friendly setup focused on light career exploration, hands-on life skills, and general positive encouragement. It was designed with 7th-12th graders in mind, but has something for anyone for wants to participate. Set-up includes our Mobile Career Unit (a little smaller than the Bookmobile), a pop-up tent, and tables and chairs.
Our plan is to set up for two hours each week throughout July and August (nine weeks total) and visit a variety of communities around the county, including some places our mobile units don’t always reach. We hope to see you at the Albany Community Park this summer!

Albany Village Park
Centered in our community, Albany Village Park is located behind Hocking Valley Bank on Broad Street. Easily accessible to all residents, it contains equipment for children of all ages including musical instruments to encourage creative play.
The park offers green space perfect for picnics, games, or for those who want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The community gazebo is perfect for birthday parties or outdoor meetings and covers two picnic tables and three benches. The gazebo also sits next to a public grill. Lastly, during Summer and Autumn, enjoy beautiful native plants and flowers maintained by local volunteers.
The Park has served as the foundation for a vision of future recreational prospects for the Village. Goals include expanding recreational opportunities for teenagers and adults. The plan involves utilizing other “green spaces” in creative ways that support residents, homeowners, and local businesses. It also includes exploring the potential offered to the Village by being near Lake Snowden.
The Park is maintained by the Public Works Department with some financial assistance from donations and grants for designated improvements.
