Customers who receive their electric generation supply through AEP Ohio’s Standard Service Offer (SSO) will see higher bills beginning in June.
Customers who are part of a Municipal Aggregation Program will NOT see this same increase.
If you live in the Village of Albany you are part of the “Opt-out” aggregation program which was approved by voters in 2011. This automatically enrolls all village residents, unless they individually opt-out of the program and choose not to be included.
Check today at sopec-oh.gov/rates/albany for more information or feel free to check with other electricity-suppliers for an Apples to Apples Comparison Chart to compare their rates.
Albany is locked into a rate (price to compare) of 9.85 cents/kWh for electric which is well below the AEP Ohio rate of 11.94 cents/kWh.
Simply stated this means beginning in June a substantial savings of 16% compared to the AEP Ohio rates will occur for residents that participate in aggregation.
